Elipse’s driver is awarded DNV-GL’s certification
Elipse Software, a global software developer specialized in solutions for real-time management of industrial processes, has received the Edition 2 conformity certification for its IEC 61850 client solution, whose tests procedures were conducted by DNV-GL in the Netherlands. This is a key step for consolidating Elipse’s portfolio and its position as a software provider for energy substations and operations centers, including products such as local operation interfaces, protocol gateways, and 24/7 operations center systems for power generation, transmission, and distribution companies.
Testing took place over a week, in Arnhem (The Netherlands), and comprised a documentation review and communication tests divided into blocks of conformity. Each block had both mandatory and optional tests. Elipse Power and its IEC 61850 communication driver were approved in all tests. According to Rubem Dias, Elipse Software’s Energy Group Coordinator, the certificate demonstrates the high quality level of the company’s work in this sector.
“We were one of the pioneers in the use of IEC 61850 in Brazil. The new certification is the result of the constant investments made by Elipse in order to keep our products always updated and compatible with the latest requirements by electric automation systems and devices,” says Dias.
The company had already been accredited with this certification before, in 2013, for its Edition 1.The new certificate now reflects all system updates that were improved and consolidated for Edition 2. Since DNV-GL is an independent laboratory, this is a Level-A certificate; companies that test in their own laboratories are not regarded as independent, and therefore can only issue Level-B certificates, as long as they’ve been previously approved by the UCAIug (Utilities Communication Architecture – International Users Group).
For over 150 years, DNV-GL has capacitated organizations striving to advance the security and sustainability of their businesses via 15 thousand trained professionals working in more than 100 different countries. To do so, the company offers technical assurance and ratings to software platforms, in addition to providing certification and consulting services.
