What is Elipse Certification?
Elipse Certification is an assessment program from Elipse Software. It validates the skills and practices of professionals who use Elipse products in their daily work. The program helps professionals know the software better, build higher-quality applications, and spread best practices across the industry.

There are three certification levels:
- Certified Programmer: awarded to candidates who pass the certification exam.
- Certified Instructor: for Certified Programmers who also pass a practical assessment, in which an Elipse instructor observes them teach a complete training course.
- Certified Company: awarded to solution providers with at least two certified professionals on staff and one Elipse E3 or Elipse Power Studio license.
Certified Companies get these benefits:
- Priority referral to clients looking for automation projects with the product they’re certified in.
- A certificate for the company.
- A certificate for each certified professional.
- A featured listing on the Elipse website.
How It Works
The whole process is online. You don’t need to travel or meet anyone in person.
| Product | Questions | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Elipse E3 and Elipse Power | 30 | 3 hours |
| Elipse Plant Manager | 35 | 3 hours |
The exam mixes multiple-choice, essay, and hands-on questions at different levels of difficulty. During the exam you may use all Elipse manuals and tutorials, the Elipse Knowledgebase, and the software itself.
Passing score and retakes
- Your first attempt is free.
- You need a score of at least 70% to pass.
- If you don’t pass, you can retake the exam after at least 30 days, for a fee. The retake is free if you wait six months or more after the failed attempt.
Validity and renewal
A certification is valid for two years. Starting three months before it expires, you can take the exam on the latest software version to renew it. If you don’t pass the renewal exam, your current certification stays valid until its expiration date, and you can still retake the exam.
About the Exam
Questions always cover the latest software version, which you can download from the Elipse website. They’re organized into ten groups covering the main topics:

Not allowed during the exam: cell phones, cameras, USB drives, personal email, and any website or forum other than the Elipse Knowledgebase, the Elipse forums, and the Elipse YouTube channel.
