Elipse presents new technology to the Taiwan Power Company
On March 6th, 2018, the Taiwan Power Company was introduced to a new smart grid platform, a co-developed pilot project by Elipse Software, Works Systems, ADVANIO and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST). Taiwan Power Company Research Institute (TPRI) also contributed to this project by providing consulting and guidance. The event took place at the Taiwan Power Company’s headquarters, in Taipei.
Based on Industry 4.0 concepts, this technology runs in an XMPP server cloud and compiles IEC 61850-8-2 XMPP and IEC 61850-7-420 protocols for DER (Distributed Energy Resource) via a plug & play gateway. This gateway converts IEC 61850 -7-420 into IEC 61850-8-2 XMPP, which is the standard for DERs.
The new solution was developed with PaaS, a Works Systems platform for device management and data analytics, using a TR-069 agent, a protocol for telecommunication applications. Additionally, the technology employs CIM (Common Information Model), which can be extended to other platforms in smart grid domains, such as ADMS, SCADA, CBM, Demand Response, Microgrid, EMS, and MDMS.
