Driver MQTT by Elipse adds support to Sparkplug B
Latest update turns the Elipse environment into an active participant inside industrial IoT ecosystems
To better integrate their platforms with several types of equipment and automation systems, the international developer Elipse Software presents a portfolio that currently offers more than 490 different drivers. The company’s focus is on developing new drivers on a regular basis, as well as on improving and adapting the existing ones for projects that require customized needs.
It is in this context that the company has updated their MQTT driver. The driver was developed to connect the software by Elipse to systems based on MQTT, a protocol widely used in IoT applications. The driver’s latest version supports Sparkplub B, a standard that defines how to transmit and organize industrial data inside MQTT, providing the system with interoperability, contextualization, and device auto-discovery.
With this resource, the Elipse system can act as a Primary Application (PA), which is responsible for automatically discovering the groups, nodes, and devices available on the MQTT network. Once they are discovered, the driver can receive data in real time and send commands as needed. Through the messages defined with Sparkplug B, it’s now possible to continuously monitor and control the whole MQTT network structure, keeping data synchronization with no need for manual configurations.
Among the main gains this update will provide are auto-discovery of MQTT topology and devices, dynamic metrics update, more reliable communication, and shorter settings and maintenance time.
