In 2011, Aneel (National Electric Energy Agency) released the Public Call for Strategic Research and Development (R&D) Projects 013/2011 – Technical and Trade Arrangements for Inserting Photovoltaic Solar Generation into the Brazilian Energy Matrix, calling companies to submit R&D projects with this focus. In this context, in May 2014, Tractebel Energia built the Cidade Azul Photovoltaic Plant (CAPP) in Tubarão-SC. In search for a tool to monitor the performance of the three technologies tested at this plant, Tractebel decided to adopt the Elipse E3 solution, developed by Elipse Software.
