Elipse Power implements the system of load disposal for the Utility Central of Petrobras's Cenpes Expansion
04/13/2012
Considered the largest research hub on oil in Latin America, the Leopoldo
Americo Miguez de Mello Research Center (Cenpes) is the unit responsible for
R&D activity and basic engineering of Petrobras. In order to increase
reliability and availability of energy supply, Cenpes's substation connects to
two transmission lines and adds generators (six altogether) which works as a
spinning reserve to ensure the supply when there is failure in one of the supply
sources. However, it is essential that there is a load disposal system capable
of ensuring that whenever one of the supply sources of energy is down, the plant
is not completely turned off, thus preserving the functioning of the priority
loads. To meet this need, the Utility Central of Cenpes Expansion chose Elipse
Power's Load Discharge Module.
